In Loving Memory of

SHARON RAE HEITZ
November 5, 1937 – January 23, 2023

For over 40 years, Shari was the owner of Shari’s Dance Studio in Shakopee, MN. She inspired and touched the lives of the thousands of students she taught over the years. She was ambitious – a pioneer female entrepreneur who made a difference in the lives of many.

We are dedicating the 2023 season to Brent’s mother Shari Heitz, the founder of Statewide Dance, she had her first National event in 1989. after Shari retired, the competition was passed on to her eldest son Cary Sinn. He shaped the family business into what became known as Midwest Starz! After the unexpected loss of Cary. Shari came out of retirement with help from her kids to overcome one of the hardest dance seasons to date. Brent stepped up and took on the greatest venture of his life. After 15 years of hard work and dedication, Midwest Starz has out grown its midwest title and became Starz Dance Competition, owned and operated by Brent & his son Tyler Sinn.

Established in 1989, Starz is a family owned and operated dance competition. It is our mission to enhance, enrich, and encourage a lifelong love of dance in every one of our dancers. Our goal is to provide every studio a superior dance competition experience. Starz Dance Competition achieves this goal and stands out in the growing world of competition dance for many reasons, from our well known and loved team of staff, to our exceptional judging and top of the line equipment.

Every year we continue to be in awe of the dedication and commitment that the students and studios have for the art of dance, and never cease to be amazed by the unwavering support parents provide for their children. We are blessed year after year by having the opportunity to reunite with so many friends and their families. Thank you for choosing Starz, and we are looking forward to the many new friendships to be made in the years to come!

In loving Memory of Shari Heitz and Cary Sinn, whose joy and passion for dance will live forever in our hearts.
